Greek Islands by Size

There are more then 6000 Greek Islands but most of them are not inhabited, and only about 80 of them have a population of more then 100 people. The largest Greek islands are included on this page and they are organized from largest to smallest. See also our index of Greek Islands by Name.

Crete Island
Crete is the largest of the Greek Islands and it is the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea It is 3219 square miles in size (8336 square kilometers). It is one of the most popular visitor destinations in Greece. It has accommodations in all categories, and all price ranges, and campgrounds as well. Flights to Crete are available out of Heraklion Airport and Chania Airport or by boat from the ports of Heraklion, Chania, Rethimno, or Agios Nikolaos.
