This Chicken Paprika recipe uses sour cream instead
of sweet cream, it includes mushrooms and
onions, and it is flavored with white wine, and brandy.
Chicken Paprika Ingredients
- 1 cut up chicken
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of oil
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1-1/2 teaspoons of Hungarian paprika
- 1/2 cup of sliced or chopped onion
- 1-1/2 cups of sliced mushrooms
- 1/3 cup of brandy
- 1/4 cup of white wine
- 2 teaspoons of flour
- 1/2 cup of sour cream
Chicken Paprika Instructions
Salt the chicken and brown in the oil and butter.
Sprinkle the paprika over the chicken and set it aside.
Saute the onions and mushrooms in the chicken drippings.
Add brandy and wine. Return the chicken to the pan,
cover, and simmer about 20 minutes or until the chicken
is fully cooked and tender. Remove the chicken from
the pan. Stir the flour into the sour cream, then stir
that mixture into the chicken drippings and wine sauce.
Cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens. Pour the
sour cream sauce over the chicken and serve.
