Fagaras Fortress
Fagaras Fortress Historic Monument
This fortress built in the 14th century is of the most well
preserved medieval forts in Romania.
It has 80 rooms and is surrounded by a deep and wide moat.
Access by crossing over a bridge above the moat.
The castle at the center for the fortified citated
has five towers and three leves including a basement.
The Fagaras Museum is located inside the castle
and it has an archaeology section, a history section, and
an ethnography and arts and crafts section.
Located about 45 miles west of Brasov in the Village of Fagaras.
Also known as the Fagaras Citadel and Cetatea Fagarasului.

Rasnov Fortress Historic Monument
Fortress built by the Teutonic Knights to protect against
the Tarters. Its defensive system includes nine towers,
two bastions, and a drawbridge. Surrounded by 500 foot slopes
on three sides.
Located about 9 miles northeast of Brasov, in the
Carpathian Mountains, about 650 feet above the town of Rasnov.
Also known as the Rasnov Citadel.
