The first ice hotel in the world opened in Sweden in the early 1990's.

Sweden's Ice Hotel
Sweden's hotel made of ice and snow is called simply "IceHotel" and it is constructed every winter in Lapland, about 200 kilometers into Arctic Circle, in the Swedesh village of Jukkasjarvi.
