DESCRIPTION:
The 1979 Ironman Triathlon was delayed by one day due to bad weather. Lyn Lemaire became the first female finisher with a tine of 12 hours and 55 minutes. 35 year old tom Warren of Sn Diego finishede first overall with a time of 11 hours, 15 minutes and 56 seconds. Sports journalist Barry McDermott wrote a ten page article about the 1979 Ironman that was published in Sports Illustrated Magazine.
