FlyHawaii "In The News" Article

April 2005 article published by FlyHawaii airlines entitled "In The News".

DATE: April 13, 20065
TITLE: "In the News" /p>

The news is flying! Since FlyHawaii's press conference on March 16, the islands have been abuzz with excitement. The announcement of a new low-cost interisland airline has struck a chord with island residents and visitors alike who recognize the need for more affordable and convenient travel between the islands.

In the past few weeks, FlyHawaii has been all over the news as the press has recognized the tremendous interest in the topic of improving interisland transportation. This news continues to be met with optimistic feedback, especially from Hawaii residents who are dissatisfied with the current high fares and lack of frequency of interisland flights. The prospect of FlyHawaii entering the market has many flyers ecstatic.

The press has targeted the point that currently, there is widespread disenchantment with interisland travel. In the Honolulu Star Bulletin's March 28 article "Isle travel on verge of new era?", interisland passengers complained about the current high-fares, realizing that it is often the same price to fly to the mainland as it is to travel interisland. John Garibaldi, CEO of Hawaii Superferry, noted the 20% drop in Hawaii residents flying interisland in the past five years. The main reason for this drop was the dramatic rise in fares. Each story in the press highlighted our consistently low fares (around $50 one-way and $99 roundtrip). The press has gone on to note that FlyHawaii recognized this disenchantment and is working to create a new era of greater possibility for interisland connectedness. There is a tremendous need for more affordable and frequent travel possibilities between the islands, and although there is a history of unsuccessful interisland air carriers, FlyHawaii's objective is to meet the demand for good.
